You can quickly and easily calculate approximately how much gravel you will need to cover a specified area.

Calculate Cubic Yards of Material Needed:
  • Area (square feet) x depth (feet) = required volume in cubic feet.
  • Divide by 27 to convert cubic feed volume to cubic yards (c.y.).
Rock is sold by the ton; conversion from cubic yards to ton varies depending on the type of rock, and the desired amount of compaction. Conversion factors range from 1.6-1.95 ton / cy
  • Volume (c.y.) * Applicable Conversion Factor = tons needed
